Mary – 08-07-12 WY/Canada Trip – Saskatoon, SK to Regina, SK
Today was a fun travel day. It is our first trip to Saskatchewan and seeing someplace new is always exciting. Saskatchewan, at least south central Saskatchewan is largely farm country.
We had some anxious moments pulling into the campground last night. They've been lax in keeping trees and shrubs pruned to allow for big rigs. Figment is a big girl -- 8.5 feet wide and 12.5 feet high. She unfortunately suffered some bad scratches on the way in. With the help of a fellow camper and our handy hatchet, the tree and bush threatening the drive out this morning were well trimmed. We alerted the office of the problem and the owners were out this morning cutting away at the offending trees behind us.
On our way to Regina we passed more beautiful fields of flax, canola, corn and just lovely rolling hills. We also passed by the town of Simpson. To get to Simpson would have meant a trip down a gravel road, which Figment doesn't handle so well, nor do I, and one never knows if there is going to be enough room to turn the big girl around, so we just snapped the sign and kept going.
I thought I'd share a few additional shots from the RCMP Sunset Ceremony. This guy made it fun for all ages.
