Mary – 09-16-15 NC Trip – Little Rock

We completed the Clinton Library tour today. The staff was kind and helpful. I think they let us enter some rooms not usually available to the public. That was cool. I made it through the day without an episode.

 

Our campground was right on the Arkansas River and our space was just a few feet away and facing it. We were right between 2 bridges, with another very close by. At night they were lighted, which made for a beautiful sight.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mary – 09-15-15 NC Trip – Little Rock

Went to the Clinton Library today. It was very interesting and exhibits were beautifully organized. It is over 68,000 square feet and the largest presidential library in terms of physical size. It also contains the largest archives.

I used my wheelchair, which turned out to be my best decision of the day because I was able to see more without becoming exhausted.

 

 

 

We only made it through 3/4 of the first floor and the abdominal spasms started again, so we left. They were kind enough to give us access passes for the next day. The attack was severe enough to go to the ER. We asked for directions from a gentleman near us in the parking lot. He realized it was pretty complicated and told us to follow him, he would lead us there. How kind he was to give up a half hour to take us right to the ER entrance. The doctor and nurse were great. The 10 hours waiting to be seen, not so much.

Mary – 09-14-15 NC Trip – Texarkana to Little Rock

Stopped in Hope, AR to visit Clinton's birthplace and first home. His father died from a bronchial problem 3 months before he was born, so he and his mom lived with his grandparents for his first 4 years and then moved to another house. He lived in Hope for 7 years.

RV: Steps haven't worked since picking Figment up on Friday. Fun loading it up and traveling, using an ice chest for steps. Hopefully, we can get them fixed in LR. Kitchen slide motor really struggled pulling in kitchen slide this morning. Ugh! 

 

We wandered around and found the Community Bakery, a delightful place for dinner (twice). What great desserts, too.

Mary – 09-14-15 NC Trip – Texarkana

The RV park in Texarkana is very nice and on a lake with a beautiful park-like area of cushy thick grass and giant trees. First park to ever allow Bentley to run free. We played ball this morning. It was awesome to see him just run free and have fun. 

 

 

 

Mary – 09-13-15 NC Trip – First Day

Great to be on the road again. We’re starting 10 weeks later than our usual July escape the heat. Most of the delay was waiting on a part to fix the RV jacks. Finally, we decided to make the trip without the jacks. When we got home from Camping World with jack-less Figment, we discovered the steps weren't working either. Not to worry, we loaded up using an ice chest for a step and hit the road on Sunday, 9/13.

 

The first day was not without drama. We had to pull off the road for an hour due to Mary’s severe upper abdominal pain. We decided to stop in Texarkana rather than pushing through to Little Rock.

Conni – 09-05-14 Banff Trip –Durango, CO

For the last of our trip, we headed over to Durango. We were in a campground right beside the Durango/Silverton railway. We had taken the trip before and we highly recommend it. This time, I just ran down to the tracks every time I heard the train coming. Some things you just can’t keep from doing. :)

 

 

Of course, we toured the town and had some wonderful meals.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And, then we made our usual day trip in the mountains.

 

 

After all that, we headed home – end of trip!!!!

Conni – 08-31-14 Banff Trip –Creede, CO

We camped at one of our favorite places in Pagosa Springs, CO. and had a chance to visit with our friends, Gail and Bob Bruner, several times. Gail took us on a special trip over Wolf Creek Pass to Creede, CO. What a treat. Neat old mining town. We had a very nice lunch and walked much of the Main St. there and made it into quite a few specialty shops.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After that, we drove to the edge of town to their Fire Station that is very unique, in that it is built inside a cave. Of course, we made our way in and since no one was there, we toured it on our own.

 

 

 

 

 

Then, we were off to the mining area. Amazing that some of those old buildings and structures are even partially standing.
